This Inductive made & entered into this the Seventeenth day of May A.D. Eighteen hundred & Eighty three (1883) between Lemuel P. Grant — of the one part — and the city of Atlanta of the other part — both of the state & county aforesaid, witnesseth that the said Lemuel P. Grant — in consideration of a desire to promote the public good, as well as the benefit he expects to derive in increasing the value of his contingent lands, has given, donated and conveyed and hereby gives, donates, and conveys to the said City of Atlanta the following described tract of land for the use & purpose hereafter specified 1 said tract being a part of land lot number forty three (43) in the fourteenth district of virgina (?) formerly Henry (?) now Fulton County — commencing in the east line of said land lot at a point of about two hundred fifteen (215) feet south of the northeast corner thereof and running South along said east line twenty-four undred and ninetynine (2,499) feet to the southeast corner of said land lot thence west along the south line fifteen hyundred and seventy six (1576) feet thence north along the lands of said Grant another twenty five hundred and finve (2505) feet to Mrs. Looneys lot thence east along Mrs. Looneys lot and the border of said grant sixteen hundred and twenty three (1623) feet to the poinit of beginning, containing four million one thousand and nine hundred and forty nine (4,001,949) superficial feet as per survey of R.M. Clayton, engineer of said City of Atlanta to have and to hold forever on condition that the same shall be improved and maintained by said City as a Public Park and shall not be used for any other purpose inconsistent with its use as a public park and that spirituous liquor shall not be sold thereon.
