Some 170 Turner employees descended on the park Saturday, September 11 --part of the company's natonal day of community service. Together they mulched, planted more than 1000 plants, and built bird houses to be installed in the park.
Turner deploys more than two thousand volunteers each year on this day at dozens of sites in Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City and London. The company invests heavily in both human and financial resources for the day assigning at least two internal project managers to each site, supplying the volunteers with commemorative t-shirts, badges, snacks and other equipment appropriate for the setting (For example, Grant Park volunteers were issued sunscreen and bug repellant.), transportation on comfy motor coaches, and hosting both a kick-off breakfast and closing lunch in Centennial Olympic Park.
Grant Park is fortunate to have partnered with Turner for this service day for the past nine years. Thank you, Turner!
