Volunteer

How can you help with the Festival before, during and after the event?  Read through the list of opportunities and see what fits your interest, skill and time.  You will find a volunteer application (attachment) at bottom of this page.  Each main committee category holds a number of specific responsibilities and each item requires a volunteer to provide oversight.  For instance, under the Logistics Committee - Radio Communications, a person is responsible for insuring that all radios are inventoried, (power) charged, distributed according to plan, collected at close on Saturday for overnight re-charging, redistributed on Sunday, collected at close, packed for shipping back to vendor and schedule pick up with freight carrier.  This particular task begins on Thursday, August 28 and ends on Tuesday, September 2 when carrier picks up. 

Logistics

Includes planning/coordination of load-in/out, portable toilets, golf carts, radio communications, electrical, tents/tables/chairs, reserved parking, water stations, signage/banners, program guide distribution, support Corks & Forks load-in/out, supplies inventory, volunteer refreshments

Public Relations/Marketing

Includes distribution of post cards/flyers/program guides in advance (begins in July), help in design/layout of printed materials, media releases, written articles/features, follow up phone calls to media, work with media to provide photos, on site interviews, tickets to Corks & Forks, create/assemble and assist with distribution of a wrap up media book for sponsors, follow up thank yous

Volunteer Recruitment/Management

Work with various functions to determine numbers of volunteers needed for each area/time/day, assist with outreach and recruitment of groups/individuals/corporate groups/etc., develop schedules and grids to manage volunteers, collect/review applications, interview volunteer candidates, establish sign-in/out procedures, assist with volunteer training/orientation, T-Shirt Distribution

Hospitality

Includes preparation/management of artist market snacks/water, booth sitters, greeters/distribution of program guides, information kiosks, ticket sales TShirt Sales, welcome vendors, surveys

Beverage Tents (Beer, Soft Drinks, Water)

(Volunteers must be minimum 21 years of age to serve alcohol)

Manage volunteers in beverage tents, pour, sales, manage inventory, keep area around tent clean, enforce rules of ID checks or NO SERVICE to anyone who appears to be intoxicated.  Volunteers may not drink alcoholic beverages while on duty.

Entertainment

Assist with stage managment at one of multiple stages, load-in/out of entertainers, liaison with staging company, MC, PA announcements/messages, bookings

Food Market

Assist with recruitment/selection of food vendors, assign vendor spaces, coordinate electrical needs, coordinate advance soft drink/water orders, enforce festival rules/guidelines, troubleshoot, manage market seating area, assist with ice/beverage/water re-supply as needed, manage load-in/out, distribute credentials

Artist Markets/Vendor Market

Assist with load-in/out, check-in all artists/vendors, distribute credentials, troubleshoot, assist with coordination of booth sitting/hospitality cart, welcome all artists/vendors, distribute/collect surveys, coordinate judging of Juried Artist Market and distribution of ribbons/awards

Corks & Forks

Assist with set up/break down, tickets sales/entry gate, wine pour, chef assistants (supply), inventory control, assist with keeping Corks & Forks production area clean, assist with load-in/out of chefs/restaurants

Sanitation

Oversight and management of trash removal, waste receptacle delivery/placement/pickup, keep walkways clean of litter/debris, work with vendors to keep their areas picked up and clean, monitor dumpster for delivery/removal, clean festival production area before opening on Sunday, clean festival production area at closing on Sunday and final cleaning on Monday
