Atlanta's Oldest Public Park Celebrates 125 Years 1883-2008

The 6th Annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is a great venue to focus on and celebrate the 125 years of history, enjoyment, memories and respite provided by one of the city's premiere green spaces.

In May 1883, Lemuel Pratt Grant, a native of Frankfort, Maine, Civil Engineer, early entrepeneur, and owner of 600+ acres of land just southeast of the city, donated 100 acres to be used as a public park.  Over the years, millions of visitors have enjoyed its rolling topography, natural springs, botanical diversity, history and more.
