On this date in 1883, Mr. Grant's hand written deed was recorded in the Fulton County Courthouse thus creating a public park for "all" Atlantans. Mr. Grant's generous gift of 100 acres set in motion the creation of the city's first Park Commission under the leadership of Sydney Root.
